FRAUD ALERT
Announcement: ⚠️Fraud Alert of Unauthorised Door-to-door Solicitation
Please note that SAS does not solicit door-to-door donations.
It has come to our attention that there have been cases of someone claiming to be a volunteer or staff representing SAS to fundraise door-to-door. Last reported case at Fernvale Link. We would like to clarify that SAS does not and have not engaged in any door-to-door collections or street collections. Any individual or group claiming to do so are not affiliated with us.
If you are approached by any individual or group claiming to be raising funds for a charitable purpose, you can seek verification of the fundraiser’s identity and the authenticity of the fundraising project by requesting to examine these documents.
Beware of Fundraising Scams and Be an Informed Giver
We urge members of the public to check these documents before making a donation.
The following methods will verify if their permits are valid:
- SMS Verification Service by Charities Unit, MCCY
SMS “FR<space><licence/certificate number or organisation name>” to 79777.
(For example, “FR 2011003000″, “FR L/HH/001111/2011″ or “FR Charity limited”.)
The facility will then send you a SMS reply indicating whether the organisation has a valid licence or certificate. - Scan QR Code
Scan the code that is located on the Collector’s Certificate of Authority (CCA) document with your smartphone. The NCSS Approval No. can be found on the CCA that all collectors are obliged to carry with them. Please click this link for a sample CCA and where to find the NCSS Approval No.
